Trabzon beaches, including Marbella Beach
What Black Sea swimming is really like in Trabzon, and which beaches and coastal clubs are worth the drive.
The Black Sea, honestly
The water is cooler than the Mediterranean — comfortable roughly from late June to mid-September — and the sea can turn choppy quickly. Beaches are mostly pebble and coarse sand, with clean water and dramatic green hills behind.
Marbella Beach
A private beach club west of the city on the Akçaabat side, with sun loungers, a pool, cafés and calm water inside its breakwater. The usual choice for visitors who want facilities rather than a wild shore.
Akçaabat and the western coast
A long public shoreline with promenades, fish restaurants and sunset views towards the harbour. Easy to combine with Akçaabat köfte for dinner.
Yomra and the eastern coast
Quieter stretches near the airport side, popular with families staying in sea-view apartments.
Safety
Swim where there are other people and lifeguards, watch for rip currents after storms, and take flags seriously — the Black Sea deserves respect.
