Where you sleep in Trabzon shapes the whole trip. The centre puts you within walking distance of Meydan, the bazaar streets and the seafront, and keeps airport transfers short. Uzungöl and Çaykara are a different holiday altogether: cooler, greener and quiet at night, but every restaurant and shop is a drive away. The coastal belt through Yomra, Akçaabat and Sürmene sits in between — larger rooms, sea views and easier parking, with a 15–30 minute drive into town.
If you plan day trips to Sumela, Ayder or the highlands, staying central usually saves time, because most tours and drivers start there. If the mountains are the trip, book at least one night up in the highlands instead of driving back and forth.
