Most Trabzon tours are day trips built around one valley. Sumela and Maçka fill a comfortable half to full day; Uzungöl is a longer drive with stops at tea terraces and waterfalls; Ayder and the Fırtına valley usually take a full day and cross into Rize. Highland tours to Şekersu, Hıdırnebi and the plateau roads are seasonal and depend heavily on weather.
Decide between private and group first, because it changes everything else. A private car and driver lets you leave early, skip the photo stops you don't care about and turn back if the cloud closes in. Group tours are cheaper and social, but the timetable is fixed. For families, older travellers or anyone prone to car sickness, the winding mountain roads matter more than the distance on the map.
