Hotels in Trabzon: which area and which type suits you

The short answer
Trabzon's accommodation splits into five practical groups: city-centre hotels around Meydan, international-brand and business hotels on the coastal strip, view hotels on the Boztepe slopes, seaside apartments and resorts east towards Yomra and Kaşüstü, and wooden lodges up at Uzungöl.
City centre (Meydan / Ortahisar)
Best for first-time visitors and short stays. You can walk to Meydan park, the bazaar, restaurants, the Hagia Sophia bus, and the Boztepe taxis. Rooms are smaller and street noise is real, but nothing beats it for convenience.
Coastal strip and business hotels
Along the shore road you will find the larger international-brand and business hotels, including the well-known chain properties that travellers search for by name. These suit business travel, sea-view rooms, airport proximity and families who want a pool, spa and parking. Access to the centre is a short taxi ride.
Boztepe slopes
Hillside hotels and apartments above the city give the panoramic view over Trabzon and the sea. You trade walkability for the view, so plan on taxis.
Yomra, Kaşüstü and the eastern coast
Newer sea-view apartments and family hotels, close to Trabzon Airport and the coastal promenade, quieter and often better value per square metre. Popular with families staying a week or more.
Akçaabat and the western coast
Quieter, famous for its köfte restaurants and old Ortamahalle houses, good if you have a car and want local life rather than a tourist strip.
Uzungöl
Wooden lakeside hotels and bungalows. Stay one or two nights to see the lake in the early morning; it is a mountain base, not a city base.
